dc.description.abstractThe present technical degree project: "Control of an Altivar 320 frequency inverter with Modicon M241 PLC through Modbus RTU communication", is based on the control of a Siemens brand three-phase motor, employing a Schneider Electric’s Altivar 320 frequency inverter, through the Modbus RTU RS485 communication protocol between the frequency inverter and the Modicon TM241CE24R PLC. The main purpose of this project is to design and implement a didactic case and to introduce students to the Modbus RTU RS485 communication protocol. For better learning, the case is composed of an asynchronous three-phase motor, from the Siemens brand; an Altivar Machine ATV320U07M2C Variable Frequency Drive, a Modicon TM241CE24R PLC, a Magelis GTO Panel HMIGTO2310. These last three pieces of equipment are from Schneider Electric. With this didactic case, the students of the Salesian Polytechnic University are going to be able to simulate industrial systems and processes, among which we have: constant pressure systems, motor start-ups, level control, etc.
