The present research work entitled "The existing relationship in cognitive impairment in adult patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia in the period 2021- 2022", sought to analyze from the narratives of health personnel the relationship between cognitive impairment and paranoid schizophrenia, in patients of adulthood within the specialized hospital San Juan De Dios, with the aim of understanding the incidence of cognitive impairment in the different physiological and psychological spheres of people with this diagnosis, paying special attention to the executive functions that could be impaired by said pathology. To carry out the analysis of this project, a qualitative type design was used, with the rationalist-deductive epistemological approach, due to the fact that arguments, deductions and explanations were used. Likewise, the data was examined through narratives such as events, facts and experiences, through a semi-structured interview, through open questions that were applied to the medical personnel. On the other hand, a bibliographic review of several scientific articles and studies about the main concepts of paranoid schizophrenia and cognitive impairment was used. Finally, results showed and corroborated the objectives set out in the project. We found that there is cognitive impairment in people with paranoid schizophrenia, in the following categories: impairment of cognitive functions related to physiological and psychological functioning; deterioration of cognitive functions related to social functioning; causal attributions of cognitive impairment, impact of cognitive impairment in the psychosocial sphere; treatment and access to health. On the other hand, a great stigmatization around schizophrenia was evidenced, due to the lack of information in Ecuadorian society.
