Introduction: In the complex educational process involved different actors interacting in a given context and that is why different models and strategies try to explain and address the causes that affect student academic performance. Methodology: Based on the results of the research that found the main causes that prolong the studies in Pharmacy at the University of Costa Rica (UCR), a proposal to address the identified weaknesses is constructed through a workshop. Results: The proposal is built with the participation of the main stakeholders in the process and considers activities to improve student´s aspects before the admission and during the university period, also to improve some aspects of the work of the teachers and the curriculum. Conclusion: Given the multifactorial nature of the educational process, this study is important because it recognizes that there are deficiencies that must be addressed, that is why a proposal was constructed based on the main causes or weaknesses identified, which seeks to resolve the prolonged permanence of students.
