dc.description.abstract | Active mobility refers to the displacements that require the strength of the person for its execution.
This seeks to reduce the use of the private motor vehicle for short and médium distance journeys, replacing it with more sustainable modes of mobility such as public collective transport, cycling or traveling on foot, as well as its adequate integration and complementarity.
According to actions applied in the field of urban planning, when restricting motorized traffic through different áreas of a city, there is a respite from everyday noise and air pollution. In the same way, the space is arranged for cyclists, pedestrians, skaters and the other modes of non-motorized mobility to make use of the roads with greater freedom and safety. Regarding this issue, the present research is generated in the South Caribbean of Costa Rica as an impulse to promote active mobility in the región.
This is achieved by the conviction that the excessive use of the automobile as a form of transport in the cities produces a detriment of the quality of urban life and, therefore, it is demonstrated that urban life can develop in a pleasant way by being free streets of the vehicular invasion. | |
