Producción y productividad de los cultivos de arroz y caña de azúcar en Costa Rica de 1980 al 2010

Abstract

El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar los datos de producción y productividad de los cultivos de arroz y de caña de azúcar en Costa Rica, con el fin de analizar su comportamiento entre 1980 y el 2010. Se utilizaron los datos oficiales elaborados por la Corporación Arrocera Nacional (CONARROZ), la Liga Agrícola e Industrial de la Caña de Azúcar (LAICA) y la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO). La principal conclusión fue que el cultivo del arroz mostró un comportamiento inestable en términos de la producción y la productividad, mientras que el cultivo de la caña de azúcar presentó un comportamiento relativamente estable con respecto a la producción y a la productividad, entre 1980 y el 2010, con un crecimiento significativo en la productividad entre 1990 y el 2007.

The objective of the research was to determine the data of production and productivity of crops of rice and sugar cane in Costa Rica, in order to analyze its behavior between 1980 and 2010. The official data compiled by the National Corporation of Rice Producers (CONARROZ), the Agricultural and Industrial League of the Sugar Cane (LAICA) and of the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO) were used. The main conclusion was that the rice showed a behavior of unstable in terms of production and productivity, while the cultivation of sugar cane introduced a relatively stable behavior with respect to production and productivity, between 1980 and 2010, with significant growth in productivity between 1990 and 2007.
