"La realidad tiene el tamaño de la imaginación": Sobre El bastardo de Carlos María Domínguez

Abstract

La noción “biografía novelada” es el pretexto para indagar en el lazo que une los documentos con la imaginación como nudo problemático del género biográfico en el interior de El bastardo de Carlos María Domínguez. ¿Es la biografía de Roberto de las Carreras una biografía novelada? ¿Cuál es la diferencia entre biografía novelada (fábula biográfica, ficción biográfica si se quiere) y biografía literaria? ¿Cuáles son los límites que el archivo le impone a la imaginación? son algunos de los interrogantes que servirán para analizar esta biografía en particular. Me interesa rastrear este movimiento en el interior de El bastardo para revisar y problematizar la noción de biografía literaria como forma en paralelo con el de la biografía novelada como género que lejos de profundizar en esta tensión, la reduce.

The “noveled biography” idea is the reason to inquire in the link that put together documents and imagination as a problematic heart of biography in El bastardo by Carlos María Domínguez. ¿Is the Roberto de las Carreras´s biography a noveled biography? ¿Which is the different between noveled biography and literary biography? ¿Which are the boundaries that the documents establish towards the imagination? are some of the questions that this paper would answer in this biography in particular. My aim in this paper is to track this movement in El bastardo to examine and question the idea of a literary biography as a form in link with the one of noveled biography as a genre that does not go deep in that tension and reduce it.
