LOICA COMÚN (Leistes loyca) CON EL PICO DEFORMADO EN LA PROVINCIA DE MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

Abstract

El pico de las aves es una estructura anatómica cuya formación está gobernada por complejos mecanismos genéticos durante el desarrollo embrionario, por lo tanto, es esperable que cualquier alteración (mutación) desencadene una malformación. Actualmente existe una gran cantidad de registros de aves de distintas especies con diferentes alteraciones anatómicas o morfológicas del pico. La presente nota tiene como objetivo asentar un registro con fotografía de un ejemplar de Loica Común (Leistes loyca) con mandíbula alargada y maxilar decurvado en su extremo distal sin alargamiento. El registro fue realizado en San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina.

The beak of birds is an anatomical structure whose formation is governed by complex genetic mechanisms during embryonic development, therefore any alteration (mutation) is expected to trigger a malformation. Currently there are a large number of records of birds of different species with different anatomical or morphological alterations of the beak. The purpose of this note is to establish a photographic record of a specimen of Long-tailed Meadowlark (Leistes loyca) with an elongated mandible and a curved maxilla at its distal end without lengthening. The registration was made in San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina.
