Tmm is abundant information showing that the growth and differentiation of epithelium requires the proximity of mesenchyme. The importance of the dermis for the in vitro development of an epidermis of the same species was established by Sengel, McLaughlin. However, the degree of species specificity necessary for this interaction has not been described. Related to this, Zwilling showed in viuo that the graft of a mesenchyme of a different species induces the development of an ectodermal structure macroscopically characteristic of the donor species.
