In contrast to Nassauvia species studied previously, all collected west of the SouthAmerican continental divide, N. axillaris from near Tucuma´ n did not contain 4-hydroxy-5-methylcoumarins so far considered typical of the genus. Whether this isan inherent property of the species or is due to geographical reasons cannot bedecided at this point.
