Conflictividad rural, estructura social y etnicidad en Chubut: Las "recuperaciones territoriales mapuche" en perspectiva social e histórica

Abstract

Intentamos caracterizar y comprender la inscripción histórica de las llamadas recuperaciones territoriales mapuche en la provincia de Chubut. Propondremos que las recuperaciones territoriales conforman un eje de conflicto agrario que articula tanto procesos económicos y sociales de larga duración como construcciones políticas propias de coyunturas actuales, que integran procesos de re-construcción de identidades étnicas y relaciones de poder locales.Tal situación se debe a factores históricos específicos vinculados al desarrollo de las relaciones sociales en la región, la escasa importancia productiva actual del sector agropecuario en la zona, la dinámica de concentración de la tierra y las construcciones políticas desarrolladas por la población mapuche.Apelamos a información estadística y documental para situar los conflictos agrarios en el Chubut en el marco de la conflictividad general en la provincia, pero también a observaciones etnográficas para ilustrar las dinámicas de los reclamos y las peculiaridades que atraviesa lo mapuche en tanto propone una cierta construcción de un sujeto político:el pueblo mapuche.

We try to characterize and understand the historical inscription of the so-called Mapuche territorial recoveries in the province of Chubut. We will propose that territorial recoveries form an axis of agrarian conflict that articulates both long-term economic and social processes and political confrontations that integrate processes of re-construction of ethnic identities and local power relations. This situation is due to specific historical factors linked to the development of social relations in the region, the low current productive importance of the agricultural sector in the area, the dynamics of land concentration and the political constructions developed by the Mapuche population. We appeal to statistical and documentary information to place the agrarian conflicts in Chubut within the framework of the general conflict in the province, but also to ethnographic observations to illustrate the dynamics of the claims and the peculiarities that the Mapuche goes through as it proposes a certain construction of a political subject: the Mapuche people. Finally, we present some reflections on the interpellation generated by the Mapuche claim and its possible reception conditions by society in general.
