Reseña histórica de la enseñanza de geología en la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán

Abstract

Los estudios geológicos en la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán formaron parte del quehacer investigativo y docente desde sus inicios en las primeras décadas del siglo 20. El principal gestor fue Abel Peirano qui en ocupó diferentes cargos en la institución. En el año 1945 bajo el rectorado de Horacio Descole creó el Instituto de Geología y Minería en Jujuy dependiente de la UNT donde se realizaron trabajos de investigación y docencia en las provincias del NOA. En 1953, dependiente de la UNT bajo el rectorado de Carlos Aguilar se creó la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales en Salta comenzando allí la carrera de Geología. En la misma époc a en Tucumán se creó la Escuela Universitaria de Ciencias Naturales dependiente del I nstituto Miguel Lillo durante la gestión de su director Horacio Descole y con la gestión de Abel Peirano se instrumentó la carrera de Geología en concordancia con la creada en Salta . Dos décadas más tarde ambas instituciones se transformaron en la base de la organización de las universidades nacionales de Jujuy y Salta.

Historical overview of geology education in the National University of Tucumá n. Geological studies at the National University of Tucumán were part of the research and teaching since its beginnings in the first decades of the 20th century. T he main manager was Abel Peirano who held different positions in the institution. He created under the rectorate of Horacio Descole the Institute of Geology and Mining in Jujuy in 1945 under the UNT, where research and teaching were performed in the provinces of NOA. In 1953, dependent of the UNT under the rectorate of Carlos Aguilar was created t he Faculty of Natural Sciences in Salta beginning there the studies of Geology. At the same time in Tucumán was created the University School of Natural Sciences under the Miguel Lillo Institute during the management of its director Horacio Descole, and wi th the direction of Abel Peirano was implemented Geology in accordance with the one created in Salta. Two decades later both institutions became the basis of the organization of the national unive rsities of Jujuy and Salta.
