Larvicidal effect of ethanolic extracts from Melia azedarach dried leaves and ripe fruits in Aedes albopictus larvae

dc.descriptionNeste trabalho determinou-se o efeito larvicida de extratos etanólicos de frutos maduros e folhas secas de Melia azedarach em Aedes alpopictus silvestres. Os bioensaios de letalidade foram realizados de acordo com as recomendações da Organização Mundial da Saúde. Não foi observada diferença significativa entre as concentrações letais determinadas entre o 3º e 4º estágios para os diferentes extratos, entretanto, as LC<sub>90</sub> e LC<sub>95</sub> demonstram a maior letalidade do extrato obtido de frutos maduros. Estes resultados sugerem que tanto os extratos de frutos maduros como de folhas secas de M. azedarach apresentam potencial para o desenvolvimento de larvicidas para o Ae. albopictus. inserted in small depressions, secretory ducts associated to the phloem and idioblasts containing calcium oxalate are reported as the mainly morpho-anatomical data for Baccharis coridifolia
dc.descriptionEthanolic extracts were obtained by fruits and leaves maceration and the solvent was removed in a rotary evaporator. The lethality bioassays (LC<sub>50</sub> , LC<sub>90</sub> and LC<sub>95</sub> ) were carried out according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization. Leaves and ripe fruits extracts were tested at doses ranging from 0.015 g% to 1,20 g% and 0,015 g% to 0,9 g% ,respectively, for the third and fourth instar larvae. Both extracts showed bioactivity in all doses and instar larvae tested, although ripe fruits extracts showed higher activity. Results indicate that these botanical extracts could be used as an alternative resource to control Ae. albopictus larvae.
