Se compara la anatomía foliar y caulinar del muérdago criollo: Ligaria cuneifolia (R. et P.) Tiegh. (Loranthaceae) con la del muérdago europeo: Viscum album L. (Viscaceae). Ambas especies se utilizan en medicina popular. La primera es el sustituto natural de la segunda en nuestro medio. Se establece que las dos especies pueden diferenciarse mediante caracteres anatómicos, de los cuales los más significativos son la presencia de esclereidas cristalíferas en el muérdago criollo y la presencia de drusas en el muérdago europeo.Leaf and stem anatomy of the argentine mistletoe: Ligaria cuneifolia (R. et P.) Tiegh. (Loranthaceae) and the european mistletoe: Viscum album L. (Viscaceae), are compared. Both are used in fok medicine. The former is the natural substitute of the latter in our country. They can be distinguished by some anatomical characters, the most important of which are the presence of cxystalliferous branched stone cells in the argentine mistletoe and the presence of calcium oxalat clusters in the european mistletoe.
