This work aims to present the theory of Fourier Series and Fourier Transforms with an introductory focus, observing the periodicity characteristics for practical applications in spectral frequency readers. In this way, an introduction to Fourier Series will be presented that allow the representation of periodic functions, such as the infinite sum of terms of a trigonometric series and its complex exponential representation, making the approximation of values of a function more advantageous when it demonstrates difficulties to calculate. Then, we evolved the concepts expanding the range to infinity, to conceptualize and present the Fourier Transforms, with their characteristics and examples. Later we will demonstrate the application in a modulated frequency (FM) spectrum, compared to measurements performed by specific equipment in the field.
