Resumen
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the naming of nouns and verbs in a population of aphasic patients quantitative and qualitatively. Methods: The sample was composed of 30 aphasic subjects (GA) and 30 healthy subjects (GC) matched for age and schooling. All subjects were submitted initially to a questionnaire and a cognitive screening (as inclusion criteria). Later they were exposed to a visual confrontation task composed of 24 nouns and 24 verbs that must be named, represented for static pictures and short films respectively. Each response was analyzed and classified as correct when the answer corresponded to the target word or incorrect. In this case, the error was analyzed and classified into four main errors categories: Phonological, Semantic, No relationship, Perceptual. Each category has been divided into subcategories. Results: GA and GC subjects had a mean age of 55 years and 9.6 years of schooling. In GA, most individuals were diagnosed with Mixed Aphasia (33.3%) and only seven of the 30 individuals underwent speech therapy. In quantitative analysis, the subjects of the correctly answered all stimuli and in GA, the mean score in the appointment of nouns (13.1) was higher than in the appointment of verbs (10.2). In the qualitative analysis, the error category which was more frequent in substantive was the "No Relationship" category (average 5.67) and in verbs "Semantic" category (average 6.73). The most common subcategory in substantives was "No Response" (average 3.8) and in verbs "Close Semantic Relationship" (average 1.90). The "Phonological" category was more frequent in nouns (2.77 vs 0.9) and the "Semantic" category into verbs (6.73 vs 2.5). Conclusion: Aphasic subjects named better nouns than verbs and the types of errors found in nouns were different from those found in verbs. These findings corroborate the theory of noun-verb dissociation. (me?dia 5,67) e em verbos a ?Erro Sema?ntico? (me?dia 6,73). A subcategoria mais frequente em substantivos foi a ?Ause?ncia de Resposta? (me?dia 3,8) e em verbos a ?Relac?a?o Sema?ntica Pro?xima? (me?dia 1,90). A categoria ?Erro Fonolo?gico? mostrou-se mais frequente em substantivos (2,77 vs 0,9) e a categoria ?Erro Sema?ntico? em verbos (6,73 vs 2,5). Conclusa?o: Indivi?duos afa?sicos nomearam melhor os substantivos do que os verbos e os tipos de erros encontrados em substantivos foram diferentes dos encontrados em verbos. Estes achados corroboram com a teoria de dissociac?a?o substantivo-verbo.
