This work aimed to develop a surface design, inspired by the universe of photographs of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The image of the Mexican artist has been popularized and has been considered as an icon of reference, more and more, in the world of fashion. The attention of the author of this monograph was awakened to the investigation of this fact that contributed like source of research for the next studies on the artist. The method of understanding the figurative universe of the artist was based on the greimasian and flochmanian semiotics to identify the figurative construction of the figurative chromatic and visual senses inspired by floral elements and more contrasting colors of the photographs. The method used in creating the prints is inspired by the technique of developing the UFPE-CAA surface design discipline, and is suitable for the development of Frida Kahlo's collection of pattern patterns. This project also sought to offer a reference study to the development of prints contributing to the academic training of the designer.
