Esta dissertação tem como tema a construção da personagem feminina Lilith Iyapo na obra Dawn (1987), primeiro livro da trilogia Lilith’s Brood (1989), de Octavia E. Butler. Para realizar essa investigação, buscou-se, primeiramente, traçar o percurso de queda da chamada Grande Deusa Mãe Terra, demonstrando sua dessacralização até o advento das imagens femininas demoníacas, especificadamente Lilith. Em seguida, foram elencadas características marcantes no mito da Grande Deusa Mãe Terra e, principalmente, no mito lilithiano que serviram como base para a análise da construção da personagem Lilith Iyapo, haja vista ela ser apresentada como uma releitura do mito em contexto de ficção científica. Assim, as categorias Maternidade, Corpo e Sexualidade e Exílio foram destacadas enquanto reflexo do mito lilithiano na personagem investigada, no qual cada categoria foi analisada com base em uma vasta e especializada bibliografia. Desse modo, percebeu-se como Octavia E. Butler construiu uma imagem feminina que dá sequência ao percurso milenar do feminino: de deusa, a demônio, à mulher Lilith Iyapo.CNPqThis dissertation theme is the construction of the female character Lilith Iyapo in Dawn (1987), the first book in the Octavia E. Butler trilogy Lilith’s Brood (1989). In order to carry out this investigation, we first sought to trace the falling path of the so-called Great Goddess Mother Earth, demonstrating its desecration until the advent of demonic feminine images, specifically Lilith. Then, remarkable features were listed from the myth of the Great Goddess Mother Earth, and especially in the Lilithian myth that served as the basis for the analysis of the construction of the character Lilith Iyapo, since it is presented as a rereading of the myth in the context of science fiction. Thus, the categories Maternity, Body and Sexuality and Exile were highlighted as a reflection of the Lilithian myth in the investigated character, in which each category was analyzed based on a vast and specialized bibliography. In this way, it became clear how Octavia E. Butler built a feminine image that follows the feminine's millenary journey: from goddess, to demon, to the woman Lilith Iyapo.
