No
proteica vegetal sob a síntese proteica e hipertrofia muscular. O presente trabalho
ganho e força muscular, 3) estudos desenvolvidos em animais. No Brasil, o número
vegetariana. | |
dc.description | Vegetarianism is a growing eating habit that also adds adherents of physical
exercise. With this, new products are created aimed at this audience, such as protein
supplements extracted from plant sources. However, there is concern that the
physiological processes of muscle protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy are
being performed correctly. To review the literature on the effects of plant protein
supplementation on protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy. The present work
consisted of a literature review in the electronic databases MEDLINE / PubMed,
LILACS, SciELO and Google Scholar in order to select relevant research for the
proposed theme. The terms used were: “Vegetarian Food”, “Vegetable Protein
Supplements”, “Vegetable Supplements”, “Vegetable Protein”, “Muscle Hypertrophy”,
“Muscle Protein Synthesis” and their combinations. Inclusion criteria were: 1) review /
original / experimental / intervention studies, 2) Portuguese / English languages, 3)
human studies, 4) that analyzed the use of plant protein supplements in individuals
and their impact on gain and muscle strength, 5) including males and / or females, 6)
studies conducted in the 29-year period from 1989 to 2018. The following exclusion
criteria were adopted: 1) studies with sick individuals, 2) studies that do not make a
statistical association between the use of plant protein supplements and the variables
gain and muscle strength, 3) animal studies. In Brazil, the number of adherents of
vegetarian diets, in their different variations, is quite expressive, besides the
increased interest in the products of this segment. It was seen that, for this public,
there is no difference in nutritional recommendations of energy and macronutrients,
recommended for the general public, and should pay attention only to the quality and
quantity of protein consumed. This is because protein is essential for some changes
that happen inside the muscle fibers. Comparative studies between vegetable protein
supplements, soybean, rice and pea derivatives and animal protein supplements
showed no significant differences, besides revealing potent antioxidant effects
promoted by the first group. The consumption of vegetable protein supplements were
effective in the processes of muscle protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy.
Therefore, the use of this supplement may be encouraged for the vegetarian
population. | |
