FACEPE This dissertation consists on a qualitative investigation about the configurational mechanisms that operate in the synthetic drug market, with a specific cut in the middle class of Recife - Pernambuco. The transactions and flows of this market were analyzed based on the characterization of the actors' practices in function of their interactions in the networks of trade of these illicit substances as consumers. The interactions between users and sellers constitute the networks of member relations inserted in the context of the retail of synthetic drugs. To understand the functioning of this illegal social structure, 12 semi-structured interviews were conducted, which provided qualitative data, which formed the textual corpus, which served as a basis for analyzing the mechanisms that operate in these dynamics; from the purchase flows to the strategies followed to ensure the stability of transactions and the maintenance of relationships that transcend participation in these exchanges. Because the drug control and repression policies are partly directed at deterring these dynamics, the actors involved in these activities create forms of interaction, making them difficult to control when compared to other illegal practices that are more exposed. In addition to formal external regulation, moral aspects related to the stigma of drug use and sale regulate the exposure of actors in relation to individuals from other contexts. The findings allow us to understand the phenomena schematically and to identify which mechanisms operate and guarantee the absence of physical force as a form of regulation. Confidence was present in several dimensions of these interactions as a mechanism of stability assurance. The results demonstrate systems designed to minimize external linkages with vendors, and visibility into transactions and functional quality assurance strategies of what is consumed, reducing transaction costs, be they economic and / or social. In summary, the actors construct from their practices, structures of security without use of the force as strategy of internal control. These dynamics characterize this non-violent drug market, as opposed to the frequent causal association between drugs and violence.
