| dc.description | Este trabalho visa a explicar o processo de desenvolvimento econômico de alguns municípios de Mato Grosso, a partir dos pressupostos teóricos do Institucionalismo Histórico buscou-se demonstrar os efeitos das mudanças institucionais na criação de estruturas de incentivo ao desenvolvimento. O trabalho aproxima os estudos sobre as instituições formais às reflexões sobre a influência das instituições informais, como as crenças, os valores, as ideologias na determinação de escolhas dos atores políticos, a fim de demonstrar os mecanismos de interação entre as instituições na moldagem de comportamentos e seus desdobramentos no campo econômico. Por isso, o estudo oferece um panorama histórico dos processos de colonização de Mato Grosso, com destaque aos fluxos migratórios das décadas de 1970 e 1980, quando o estado recebeu grandes levas de imigrantes para a reocupação do território e a formação de núcleos urbanos e para a expansão das fronteiras agrícolas. Por meio da abordagem histórico-comparada, são apresentadas informações sobre as características do desenvolvimento de dez municípios do estado, como objetos da análise empírica, além de descrever os efeitos das mudanças institucionais na política e na economia do país. Os resultados da investigação qualitativa, realizada por meio de entrevistas com membros do executivo dos municípios considerados casos de sucesso, apontaram para os seguintes fatores de influência para as diferenças no desempenho econômico dos municípios. i. A expansão da capacidade do Estado, demonstrada pelas ações em infraestrutura, direitos de propriedade, instituições agrárias, financiamentos e estabilidade econômica. ii. Agricultura iii. Migração iv. Governança local v. Capital Social. Esses fatores demonstraram ser os principais elementos explicativos para as diferenças de desempenho econômico desses municípios ao serem produtos de arranjos institucionais presentes na história econômica brasileira. | |

| dc.description | This research aims to explain the process of economic development of some municipalities of Mato Grosso, from the theoretical assumptions of Historical Institutionalism we sought to demonstrate the effects of institutional changes in the creation of incentive structures to encourage development. The work brings the studies on formal institutions closer to reflections on the influence of informal institutions, such as beliefs, values and ideologies in determining the choices of political actors, in order to demonstrate the mechanisms of interaction between institutions in shaping behaviors and their consequences in the economic field. Therefore, the study provides a historical overview of the colonization processes in Mato Grosso, with emphasis on the migratory flows of the 1970s and 1980s, when the state received large numbers of immigrants to reoccupy the territory and the formation of urban nuclei and the expansion of agricultural frontiers. Through the historical-comparative approach, we presented information on the characteristics of the development of ten municipalities of the state, as objects of empirical analysis, as well as describing the effects of institutional changes on the country's politics and economy. The results of the qualitative research, conducted through interviews with members of the executive of the municipalities considered success cases, pointed to the following factors of influence for the differences in the economic performance of the municipalities. i. The expansion of State capacity, demonstrated by actions in infrastructure, property rights, agrarian institutions, financing and economic stability. ii. Agriculture iii. Migration iv. Local governance v. Social capital. These factors have been shown to be the main explanatory elements for the differences in the economic performance of these municipalities as they are products of institutional arrangements present in Brazilian economic history. | |
