dieta, domínio do fogo e o crescimento do cérebro humano.
MoMuP e a aula prática complementar.
ensino-aprendizagem.
dc.description | In the Evolution teaching many relevant contents are applied. However the subject is
considered quite complex, being necessary innovative methodological strategies in order to
facilitate their learning. In this perspective, we tried to apply a didactic sequence to the
students of High School and Higher Education, aiming to demonstrate the relationship
between diet, fire domain and human brain growth. It was also the objective of this work to
stimulate students to think and research about the subject, and to perform a practical class
experience. The didactic sequence was applied in the Curso de Licenciatura em Ciências
Biológicas, in the elective course Evolution of Man in America, at the Centro Acadêmico de
Vitória of UFPE, and in a group of the 3rd year of the Instituto Federal de Pernambuco,
Campus Vitória de Santo Antão. At the first moment of the activity an expositive and dialogic
lecture on human evolution was presented. In the second, a work was proposed for the
students to prepare, based on the Multiplicative Perspective Model (MoMuP), which
stimulates the students to play a more participative role in the reconstruction of his own
knowledge, since they actively act in the understanding of the case study. Two images were
given to each group of students (one showing the evolution of the human brain and another
showing a human group using the fire to cook) along with a guiding question: What is the
evolutionary relationship between diet, fire domain and brain growth human? After that, the
presentations of the groups were made, when there were interventions from the teachers, to
reach the proposed goal. According to research, it was from the domain of fire and food
cooking that humans got higher caloric intake, which allowed for considerable increase in
brain size through the rich and easily digested diet. In the third moment of the didactic
sequence, students were offered a practical class, low-cost and easy-to-execute, in order to
materialize MoMuP's theoretical activities regarding the advantages of eating cooked foods.
Students were offered raw and cooked foods such as carrots, beets, and potatoes. They ate
pre-defined amounts (about 30g) of each food they chose, both raw and cooked, counting the
time required to eat and the number of chews in this process. In the end, all groups showed
their results in the classroom board, discussing with teachers the fact that the consumption of
cooked foods is faster, and in some cases, more palatable. In the activity with the Graduation
students, only the second and third moments were realized, since they already knew the
theoretical content about human evolution. The results were positive and everyone managed
to reach the final goal. In the evaluation, the students considered as relevant the proposed
MoMuP activity and the complementary practical class. With this, it is concluded that it is
important that teachers develop methodological strategies that can provide better learning for
students, placing them as thinking and active beings in the teaching-learning process.
