Contudo, as leituras mais difundidas da cidade, em especial daquelas situadas na periferia do capitalismo, ainda está enviesada por ideias de momento, muitas das quais incapazes de apontar caminhos à transformação da realidade urbana, sobretudo frente ao quadro de fragmentação que se estabelece de forma crescente. Neste sentido, tem-se tornado cada vez mais urgente a elaboração de novas leituras críticas da cidade, teorias radicais da urbanização periférica, alinhadas à toda tradição crítica dos estudos urbanos e que permitam conhecer as raízes dos problemas e os caminhos para uma verdadeira ação revolucionária. Esta tese tem por objetivo apontar as nuances da fragmentação do espaço no Recife com base no estudo da vida entre-muros, isto é, do cotidiano daqueles cujo o sentimento do medo tem sido cada vez mais determinante nas sociabilidades e nas preferências estéticas. Pretende-se com esta tese trazer uma interpretação crítica da realidade urbana desta cidade, demonstrando que o caráter insular sobre o qual a cidade se edificou permaneceu no transcurso dos anos, assumindo então o que estamos chamando de ―insularidade social‖. A presente tese possui três diferentes momentos. No primeiro, buscamos refletir, por meio de pesquisa teórica, sobre os processos de valorização, consumo, produção e reprodução do espaço, bem como o de diferenciação espacial, considerando também o papel dos valores subjetivos. Nossa intenção é situar os enclaves fortificados na esteira desse processo, algo que requer a compreensão da natureza da valorização capitalista, bem como dos princípios ético/morais e estéticos que induzem escolhas e formas de diferenciação. Ainda neste primeiro momento, procuramos também visualizar como tem se dado o processo de urbanização na periferia do capitalismo, dando especial atenção à realidade urbana latino-americana. No segundo momento é apresentamos de fato uma interpretação crítica da cidade do Recife, na medida em que procuramos dar conta de confirmar a hipótese de uma insularidade social enquanto manifestação local do processo de fragmentação. No terceiro e último momento, onde se desenvolve o estudo de caso, buscamos atestar a construção teórica arrolada nos dois primeiros capítulos, observando uma realidade particular. Neste sentido, procuramos compreender pormenorizadamente alguns dos principais aspectos da vida entre-muros em um dos muitos enclaves existentes na cidade do Recife, tomando-os como evidência dos argumentos desenvolvidos nos capítulos anteriores.CAPESThe public debate and the action of new urban activism have put urban space and planning in evidence, rekindling the need to think of more democratic cities. However, the most widespread readings of the city, especially those on the periphery of capitalism, are still skewed by ideas of the moment, many of which are incapable of pointing the way to the transformation of urban reality, especially in the face of fragmentation growing. Thus it has become increasingly urgent to elaborate new critical readings of the city, radical theories of peripheral urbanization, aligned with the whole critical tradition of urban studies and that allow to know the roots of the problems and the ways to a true revolutionary action . This thesis aims to point out the nuances of space fragmentation in Recife based on the study of inter-wall life, that is, the daily life of those whose fear sentiment has been increasingly determinant in sociabilities and aesthetic preferences. This thesis intends to bring a critical interpretation of the urban reality of this city, demonstrating that the insular character on which the city was built has remained over the years, assuming what we are calling "social insularity". The present thesis has three different moments. In the first one, we seek to reflect, through theoretical research, the processes of valorization, consumption, production and reproduction of space, as well as spatial differentiation, also considering the role of subjective values. Our intention is to situate the fortified enclaves in the wake of this process, which requires an understanding of the nature of capitalist valorization, as well as ethical / moral and aesthetic principles that induce choices and forms of differentiation. Still in this first moment, we also try to visualize how the process of urbanization in the periphery of capitalism has taken place, giving special attention to the Latin American urban reality. In the second moment, we present a critical interpretation of the city of Recife, as we attempt to confirm the hypothesis of a social insularity as a local manifestation of the fragmentation process. In the third and last moment, where the case study is developed, we seek to attest to the theoretical construction listed in the first two chapters, observing a particular reality. In this sense, we seek to understand in detail some of the main aspects of life between walls in one of the many enclaves in the city of Recife, taking them as evidence of the arguments developed in previous chapters.
