The industrial branch of Oil & Gas is one of the most important for the development of the current society. From it it is possible to produce materials and inputs for other industries, as well as consumer goods for the most diverse types of follow-ups. Nevertheless, due to the physicochemical characteristics of the products used and the operational conditions to which they are exposed, the risks related to accidents such as explosions, fires and emissions are high. In this way, the creation of means of improving the training of the emergency teams that act to mitigate these accidents is necessary. In this work, a virtual reality scenario was created aiming at this improvement in an oil refinery. The location of the refinery chosen was the LPG Sphere’s Park, due to its importance in the production process and dangerous characteristics that LPG can present. After that, in order to verify the possible accidental events, a more in-depth study was carried out. First, through the Preliminary Risk Analysis (APR) technique, the hazards, causes and consequences of these events were identified. Through the ALOHA software, the regions and concentrations of LPG that have flammability and toxicity were defined after the loss of containment of this product. Knowing the possible effects, the virtual scenario had its construction started. For this, it was registered through an action camera (GoPro®), one of the simulated emergencies at the stage development site. After that, using the game engine Unreal Engine 4 (Epic Games®), the architecture of the scenario and the dynamics of the game were built. The objective of the player was to find the leak site and inform the regions of greater safety for the emergency team to approach. The game was tested and validated by ten volunteers. All of them work at the refinery in the emergency part and were able to interact with the virtual scenario. Overall, the tool was well received by those who participated in the experiment. All of them clearly argued that virtual reality can increase the training of refinery brigades, bringing them closer to possible real scenarios that may arise during the operation of the plant.
