considerados significativos. M. nigricans apresentou características histológicas
similares dos órgãos, independente da posição testicular. As análises morfométricas
Myotis nigricans is a species that belongs to the Vespertilionidae family, presents the
insectivore feeding habit, playing an important role in controlling insect populations.
In males the reproductive capacity is directly related to the functioning of the gonads,
testicular positioning has been used to establish the sexual activity of males for
several species of bats. The aim of this study is to evaluate the histomorphometric
comparison of descendants and not descended testis and epididymis of M. nigricans.
Randomly, n = 10 males descendants and n = 10 males with no descendants
testicular testis. The organs were fixed in 10% NBF and subjected to histological
technique routinely included in paraffin and stained with hematoxylin eosin. the
following morphometric measures were considered: occupancy areas of tubular and
Intertubular compartments, quantification of Sertoli cells, spermatocytes, elongated
spermatids and Leydig cells. For the epididymis was measured the height of the
epithelium of the three regions (head, body and tail) of the epididymis, and submitted
to the Student t test, p values <0.05 were considered significant. M. nigricans showed
similar histological characteristics of organs, regardless of testicular position. The
morphometric analysis indicated that males with testes descendants have higher
average significant for the occupation area of the seminiferous tubules, quantification
of Sertoli cells and spermatocytes. These data indicate a higher investment in sperm
activity. Whereas males not descended testicles have higher averages for the
Intertubular compartment and number of Leydig cells, the latter being not significant
measure. In the epididymis, testis descent males had a significantly greater average
epithelial height to body region, whereas the tail was significantly higher in males not
descended testes. The tail region is responsible for sperm storage, so it is noted that
such region has a higher concentration of spermatozoa in the lumen, which may
reflect the decreased flow area of epithelium in males with testis descent.
