dc.description.abstractThis work presents a methodology developed for the generation of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The studied region is the Galinhos-Guamaré estuarine lagoon complex, containing its emerged and submerged domains, based on the integration of altimetric and bathymetric data, georeferenced and properly calibrated. The development of this methodology consists of: a) the use of ALOS satellite images, using the PALSAR (Phased Array L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) wideband polarimetric radar for extraction of altimetry values. b) survey of bathymetric data in situ using an Interferometric Lateral Sweep Sonar, Model 4600 from the company EdgeTech, as well as data processing through the use of the software SonarWiz 6 of the company Chesapeake Technology; c) integration of altimetric and bathymetric data to obtain the most representative DEM. The city of Galinhos is located in the Northeastern Region of Brazil, being one of the most economically productive regions. The region is scenario of a very varied economy, from the extraction of several sources of raw material, such as saline industry, shrimp farming, oil and natural gas exploration. In recent years, there has been an increase in ecotourism activities, contributing to the use and occupation of areas with environmental fragility (dunes and mangroves). The proposed procedure presented advantages such as spatial coverage of extensive areas, speed in the obtaining of results, operational simplicity and low cost. In view of the current scenario of sea level rising on a global scale, the results of this work can be used as a basis for future studies of local flood quotas considering the scenarios proposed by the IPCC (Intergovernamental Panel on Climate Change). Such studies make it possible to identify areas with greater risk of flooding, allowing a more efficient mitigation plan to be developed to combat the effects of the sea level rising.
