Resumen
The water supply of the city of Natal is done, mostly (70 %) from groundwater. Among the potentially polluting economic activities that compromise the quality of groundwater are the gas stations. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of electrochemical treatment in a sample of groundwater contaminated by spills of oil from a fuel station dealer in Natal/RN, evaluating the parameters PAHs, TPH and BTEX to verify the possibility of applying the technique in the remediation plan. Four electrochemical tests were performed each using 1750
mL of water. The first group of experiments used an electric current of 0.31 A and 31.4 V potential, in the 2nd test, was added 10 g of Na2SO4 in the sample, using an electric current of 2.1 A and 21.6 V potential, in the 3rd assay, was added 10 g of Na2SO4 in the sample, using an electric current of 1.06 A and 23.6 V potential, and the 4th test, was added 10 g of Na2SO4 in the sample, using an electric current of 0.53 A and potential 11.9 V. The results showthat in all trials was possible to reduce contaminant concentrations to acceptable levels established by CONAMA Resolution 420.
