dc.description.abstractThe franchise system is a business expansion format, so that the company becomes a franchisor, negotiating with third parties the right to use its brand and a business model already completely structured and validated. It is through franchising that small businesses manage to become large networks. In this way, there is a whole investment for the formatting of how the franchises will work, but those who make the biggest financial investments are those who want to become franchisees, in this sense, it is an excellent form of growth for those who have the desire to expand their business, using third-party capital. The aim of the study is to measure the feasibility of expanding a coffee shop located in Rio de Janeiro, through the franchise system, verifying not only whether the benefits generated with investment compensate for the expenses made, but also how the market is to accommodate these new businesses. The techniques used in the work aim to analyze the competition in the sector and main differentials and the cost of viability and expectation of revenue, ascertaining whether the franchisee will have a return on the initial investment and how long this will occur. Following the study methodology, being classified according to objectives, as a research is descriptive; in relation to procedures, a case study, using bibliographic and documentary research; and with regard to the approach to the problem, it is divided into qualitative and quantitative. The results obtained through the analyses indicate that the expansion of the project under study through the franchise system is economically and financially viable, because it presented excellent results, having a return period under the investment of only 17 months. Moreover, the growth of the franchise market, especially in the coffee shop business, makes the strategy even more exciting.
