Curadoria na forma de fotolivro: sufoco

Abstract

This work is a research in art composed by a curatorial process of photographs that results in a photobook called Sufoco. This theoretical-practical research was originated in the face of a pandemic of respiratory and existential collapses, with the object of study being an artistic look at the registers that reflect the contexts that were affected during the pandemic period. The central idea of the photobook is developed from different notions of suffocation: if, on the one hand, there is suffocation linked to shortness of breath in the lungs, in this work I am also attentive to the existence of a social, racial and epistemological suffocation. Then, during the creative process, I look for artists and photographers who explore themes such as racism, fascism, necropolitics. I propose to create a dialogue with Achille Mbembe (2018), Silvio Almeida (2020), Suely Carneiro (2011), Franco Berardi (2020), Didi-Huberman (2005, 2012, 2017) and Lélia Gonzalez (1982), showing that understanding goes through my experience with art, more precisely the visual poetics chosen in the form of curatorship, functioning as an aesthetic, critical and intellectual synthesis of the disputes that occurred in this period.
