Given the new aesthetic trends, that are taking power and causing changes in the formal artistic performances in recent years, often called post-modern times, this work intends to discuss the issues concerning the construction and representation of space in the film Dogville (Lars Von Trier, 2003). The hypothesis is that in Dogville the versatility of its film performance space – not only according to the principles, codes and conventions of film making, but also to them of theater practicing – makes it “hybrid” and build a proposal of “filmic dramatization” based on a new aesthetic that re-configures the notion of verisimilitude so dear to photographic reproduction.
