Resumen
This work is a comparative study developed in two classes, one beginner and another advanced, of guitar workshops taught in Centro de Educação Integrada Mais (CEI Mirassol) – private educational instituition, placed in Natal/RN- Brazil. This study used the research-action method focused on the educational scope, according Tripp (2005). More specifically, with the beginner class, the teacher used lesson plans to systematize the teaching work; with the class of more experienced students, free classes were given by the teacher (without use of a previous planning). In order to substantiate the practice and the reports of this research, a dialogue was promoted with authors who discussed some important points, such as "what is musical education", "what is non-specialized school", " student "and" the formation of the professional musician ", which are at the heart of the practice developed here. Among the authors used, we highlight Queiroz (2010), Bueno e Bueno (2009); Souza (2009), Swanwick (2003), Libâneo (2017) Gadotti (2012), Mesquita (2015), Santos Jr. (2006) and Freire (2013). Finally, it should be noted that the results and critical reflections about the reported practice, even pointing out some negatives, showed several positive points of each method in each context / application group. In other words, the work reflected that the lesson plan classes work well for younger children with few or zero experience with the instrument because they allow building the more systematic basis for learning the instrument. On the other hand, free classes work best for the more experienced students precisely because they promote more freedom and autonomy for them, since almost everything that was done in the lessons started from the students, making the classes more directed to their own inspirations and preferences.
