Resumen
This paper presents the results obtained in a study for modeling and intelligent control of process
of welding with fl ux cored wire. The objective was to improve the quality of the welding process
by employing the technique of fuzzy automatic control, in order to reduce the undesirable effects
of variations in the process, these variations can be caused a manual operation of the welding
torch as well as by limitations in the non-regulated energy sources. First a phenomenological
modeling of the dynamics of the tubular wire, was transform aiming to obtain a representation
in terms of a state space modes suitable for studies of automatic control, with the subsequent
implementation of the model in Matlab / Simulink. Then a fuzzy controller, the at Mandani type,
was designed to perform the dynamic control of the switching frequency of IGBT converter,
regulating thereby the energy supplied by the source to the welding process. The performance
of fuzzy controller was then assessed by simulation studies, with the dynamic model developed,
as well as experimentally in a laboratory test bench. For the experimental tests, the fuzzy
control law was embedded in a microcontroller DSPIC hardware system. The results obtained in
the tests show the good performance of the technique investigated
