Resumen
This paper analyzes the development of the thermophysical properties of antifreeze agents used in secondary fluids in indirect cooling systems by cool thermal storage. The substances studied here are two alcohols, ethylene glycol and ethanol, and a mineral salt, sodium chloride. The main thermophysical properties here studied are melting point (the main reason for the addition of antifreeze substances), specific mass, specific heat and thermal conductivity, dynamic and kinematic viscosity, which are compared to the pure water values. The substances analyzed here were chosen because one of them is a well-known and widely used product on the market, ethylene glycol, and the other elements are commonly found in daily life, ethanol and sodium chloride. In order to collect the values of each property, the software SecCool was used, since its data is reliable and its use is easy to understand. The analysis was performed with concentrations ranging from 10% to 30%, with thermophysical properties being explored through tables and graphs. The initial thesis was that the melting temperature of the mixtures would decrease with increasing concentration, and this theory is in fact proven in all elements analyzed. For the other properties, it was revealed that the most common products in daily life presented superior characteristics to the leading marking product and that, should the limitations related to corrosion and toxicity be overcome, these substances would have a strong position in the secondary fluids market.
