Resumen
The research that is presented concerns a work of conclusion of the Pedagogy course, addressing the theme of children 's adaptation in the school context, with the objective of analyzing the process of adaptation of small children during the insertion into the school environment, from the perspective Of the family members involved. In this way, we seek to investigate how the process of school insertion of children in early childhood occurs and what strategies facilitate the success of school adaptation. The present study will serve as a basis to reflect on the importance and meaning of the adaptation period for the child. Using as methods to reach it, the bibliographical research, which bringsthe understanding of authors on the subject, such as Balaban (1988), Rapoport (2001-2005), Rossetti-Ferreira (1986), Rizzo (1983) and Exploratory - qualitative research, thus using as data collection techniques an individually structured interview with the families of the children who are in the process of adaptation, and observation of the behavior of children in the process of adaptation in the school environment, recorded in a diary Of field. The field research was developed at a Municipal Infant Education Center (CMEI), located in the city of Natal / RN, specifically in a level II class, in which it was possible to know the reality of the adaptation process of the participating children. It can be seen from the research carried out that the adaptation of children who begin their school life in early childhood education is a very painful process, in which the child can present countless feelings such as sadness, fear, anguish, insecurity, among others.
