Resumen
Glycosaminoglycans are components present in the extracellular matrix of most of the animals present in the world and are related to a huge range of cell signaling, differentiation and growth processes. Becoming interesting modulators of a range of therapeutic possibilities, including antiviral effect, due to the competition against infectious agent about the membrane glycoproteins found in the target cells of these viruses. Therefore, the information gathered in the NCBI (PubMed) database between 2012 and 2017 was collected in this review. Bringing the experimental literature review of several particles such as Heparin (efficient against Nipah, Hendra and Zika) or Chondroitin sulfate, which has been treated as a promising glycosaminoglycan in recent decades, in association with their action mechanisms in cellular, molecular and culture medium variabilite. So it’s possible to conclude about the enormous therapeutic potential of these as antivirals, besides the many ways of acquiring or modifying them.
