Palestra pré-concerto: formando público pensante

Abstract

The objective of this study is to demonstrate the Pre-Concert Lecture as an effective educational tool in the formation of public for concert music. The Symphonic Orchestra of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, on official concert days, always holds lectures which bring to the public a little of the musical and historical content of the music to be performed. The intention of this project is to characterize the public present in these lectures, evaluate their musical knowledge and taste, learn their musical influences, and most importantly, verify the lecture´s effect in terms of concert appreciation. The content of the lecture was defined based on the chosen concert repertoire and elaborated through the use of musical and historical concepts, looking to stimulate an interaction between the public and the pieces, igniting their curiosity, taste, and interest.
