Resumen
The objective of this work is to analyze different studies of spontaneous imbibition in sandstone rocks and propose an optimized methodology. The imbibition displaces a non-wetting fluid with a wetting fluid by gravitational forces and/or capillary forces. The spontaneous imbibition process can be used for oil recovery in some types of reservoirs. High viscosity of oil and high interfacial tensions between reservoirs fluids influence the low oil recovery. Waterflooding supplements the energy of the reservoir and forces the oil to flow towards the producing wells. However, when waterflooding efficiency is low, the injection of surfactants it is possible to use to reduce the interfacial tensions between water and oil, increasing the displacement efficiency. In this work, a compilation of some references on literature was made and was observed which parameters influenced the oil recovery through the imbibition experiments in sandstone. Among the studied experiments, it was noticed that co-current imbibition is more effective because it has a higher oil recovery and the moister the core, the higher the oil recovery. With the use of magnetic resonance in spontaneous imbibition tests, can observe the progression of brine imbibition and the displacement of oil in the core. Furthermore, tests of spontaneous imbibition in which systems show lower interfacial tension show a higher oil recovery.
