Resumen
Introduction: Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) is a chronic noncommunicable disease that indicates alarming prevalence data. In Brazil, in 2018, 24.7% of the capitals population diagnosed with hypertension. Activating alterations, functions and cardiovascular, has negative repercussions on the ventilatory capacity, quality of life and sleep of these individuals. Objective: To evaluate ventilatory capacity, quality of life and daytime sleepiness in hypertensive patients, and the secondary form, to compare these variables in two groups divided according to daytime sleepiness. Methodology: this is an observational, analytical, cross-sectional and descending study, with a convenience sample, developed at the Laboratory of Human Motricity and Physiology, Trairi Health Sciences School (FACISA). Ventilatory capacity, quality of life and sleep were analyzed by spirometry analysis; SF-12 questionnaire; and Munich Chronotype Questionnaire (MCTQ) and Epworth Scale, respectively. Results: The ventilatory capacity is slightly decreased, with decreased muscle inspiratory force. Regarding quality of life or subscale for physical component was 55.6 ± 18%, or subscale for mental component 64 ± 18% and the total score was 61.1 ± 16.5%, classifying with good quality of life. . The daytime sleepiness index was classified as low sleepiness. There was a statistically significant difference in ventilatory capacity according to the daytime sleepiness index (p = 0.004 *). Conclusion: It was concluded that there is a decrease in ventilatory capacity and inspiratory muscle strength. As well as, individuals with higher daytime sleepiness had lower maximum voluntary ventilation, and in isolation, poor sleepiness and good quality of life.
