Resumen
Soil contaminations by diesel are very dangerous, because this pollutant can reach groundwater reservoirs causing contamination and affecting the population dependent on them. Therefore, it is extremely important the study of the degradation of this pollutant in the soil, in order to preserve and recover the affected areas. Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOPs) are being heavily researched lately, due to the high pollutant degradation efficiencies. One particular method is the use of sodium persulfate as oxidant. The method presents high solubility in water, 545 g•L-1 at 20 ° C, allowing the oxidant to reach deeper soil areas. In this work was utilized the initial concentration of 66.67 mg of diesel per gram of soil, achieving a 40% mineralization of the target compound, with a concentration of sodium persulphate oxidant of about 50 g / L and 1 gram of modified diatomite for the catalysis.
