This study aims to discuss an analysis on the principle of good faith and the duty to inform the light of the consumer defense code. The information was positivada as basic right of the consumer denoting the attention with the theme when it is intended to protect the consumer and to provide their conscious, rational and objective insertion as part of the consumer relationship. It is a matter of pointing out the legal prescriptions regarding the practical obligations that reach suppliers and producers from the recognition of information as the basic right of the consumer. has as its problematic: if in the face of the principle of good faith, there is effectiveness in access to the right to information before the Code of Consumer. We emphasize the criteria that the law positived as being essential for the information to fulfill its function as an instrument for rational consumer insertion in the consumer relation; Protection the practical implications for advertising, clauses in membership contracts, registration in the database, civil liability and administrative and criminal penalties that the Consumer Code has established to guarantee information as a basic right of the consumer. The methods used in the present work were the deductive (when explaining certain facts from a general view), the inductive (when, from particular facts or known, general search is sought), historical (analysis of phenomena in time), comparative, as well as the analytical-synthetic technique in the analysis of texts and documents. In this way it can be affirmed that the principle of good faith must effectively lead to access to the most secure information possible with the truth, without disregarding the position of the consumer as a human person, its needs and the real reach of the object of can give you.
