Resumen
The climatic changes, aggravated mainly by the use of conventional and fossil fuels, have been incorporating the renewable energy sources a very important role in the future, especially for the importance of energy in society as generator of wealth and economic factors. With the interest in discovering new energy sources, this work investigates the potential of three residues: corn stover, bean pod, and sugarcane bagasse, with the objective of characterize them to evaluate their energetical potential, with the posterior evaluation of the analytical pyrolysis (Py-GC/MS) products. The biomasses were characterized through physic-chemical characterizations by proximate analysis (volatile, moisture, fixed carbon, and ashes content), ultimate analysis, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin content, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), heat value, Fourier transform infrared analysis, chemical composition of the ashes by x-ray fluorescence, and analysis of the pyrolysis compounds. The results show that the corn stover, bean pod, and sugarcane bagasse are biomasses with a high heating value (17.5 MJ/Kg, 16.1 MJ/Kg, and 19.3 MJ/Kg, respectively), low moisture and ashes content, showing a high percentage of volatile matter (82.8, 78.2, and 77.8%, respectively). According to the analysis of the analytical pyrolysis products, the main compound classes present were phenols, furans, and short-chain compounds (C1-C4). These characteristics give the biomasses the viability for the application in energy conversion processes for the obtainment of bio-fuels.
