dc.description.abstract | The objective of this integrative review was to expose the scientific production related to the limits and potentialities in undergraduation mental health education. The search was conducted in the Lilacs databases and the Portal de Periódicos Capes, whose inclusion criteria were articles published in Portuguese and English, available in full, peer reviewed, between 2001 to 2019, in the scientific article modality. The results pointed 25 articles directly portrayed the theme; They also pointed out three areas most portrayed in relation to the limits and potentials in teaching mental health, namely: I. Implication of the Biomedical Model in the consolidation of Reforma Psiquiátrica; II. Stigma of health students regarding the person in mental distress; III. Changes in the conception of university students regarding mental health care. It was found that most of the problems related to teaching in mental health are due both to the prevalence of the biomedical model in the methods used in health courses, as well as to the rooted prejudice in students in relation to the person in mental distress. However, with the advances in Atenção Psicossocial (PA) policies, there have been changes in the students' view of what represents madness and aspects related to health care. | |
