Resumen
Chemical additives are often used to adequate cement slurry to wellbore conditions as temperature, pressure and depth. A design for cement pastes ensures that all properties will be satisfied during a cementing job. This work proposes as objectives to develop an additive retarder for cement pastes, starting from sugar cane bagasse (SCB) as raw material. The additive is a lignin derivate and the lignin was obtained by SCB pulping using sodium hydroxide/anthraquinone process. Next after, the lignin was modified with a reagent that confers lignin water solubilization to make it miscible in cement paste. FT-IR spectrum was used to monitor that processes. The lignin derivate obtained was tagged as ADR01 and to evaluate the capability as a retarder additive, thickening time tests was performed in a standard paste and also others pastes with different concentrations of the ADR01. The result has shown that thickening time of cement pastes was increased by the increment of ADR01 in the system. As a technological application, the ADR01 was designed to compose a cement paste system applied to Squeeze operation, for 1200 m of depth and a geothermal gradient of 1,7 oF/100ft. The cement paste showed good properties and all of them according to API’s standards. Good properties means good synergy between cement paste additives, in other words, ADR01 was not inhibiting other additives from acting.
