Resumen
In a zone with approximately 30 km of shoreline between the municipalities of Macau and Guamaré in Rio Grande do Norte State, Northeast Brazil, Digital Elevation Models (DEM) were generated based on seasonal planialtimetric high precision surveying using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GPS) on kinematic mode. The geodetic stations of the GPS Network of Northern Coastal Rio Grande do Norte were distributed throughout the area and used as reference marks for high precision positioning. The DEM multitemporal comparison improves understanding on coastal dynamics in the region, especially with regard to the processes of erosion/progradation, transport, sediment supply and balance. This paper presents an analysis of some statistical parameters, in order to determine the most appropriate interpolation method for DEM generation on Ponta do Tubarão Island, highly dynamic area, besides classifying cartographic models according to Technical Standards of the National Cartography. The results showed that triangulated irregular network interpolator (TIN) is the most appropriate to represent costal morphology on high precision shore monitoring. According to Technical Standards of the National Cartography requirements the generated MDE were classifi ed as class A in precision and accuracy, in addition to being free of bias
