Análise da viabilidade econômico-financeira da produção irrigada de Cynodon spp (TIFTON 85) no município de Ceará-Mirim RN

Abstract

The growing demand for excellent quality and quantity forage offered throughout the year is one of the main obstacles to agricultural production throughout the country. One option is to produce hay through forages such as Tifton 85 (Cynodon spp.) which contains high nutrient content and excellent palatability for animals. In this sense, the present study aimed to evaluate the economic and financial viability of Tifton 85 irrigated production in Ceará-Mirim/RN, with the purpose of commercialization for breeders with emphasis on horses and animals of high genetic value. The specific objectives were to estimate the cost elements required to implement Tifton 85 plantation and the revenue elements based on market information, as well as to analyze the viability of the proposed project using financial indicators such as Return Period (PR), Value Net Present (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Considering the planting conditions and cultural treatments used, results point to the economic and financial viability of the investment project. The data are confirmed by the IRR, with 159% per year, which is higher than the 30% TMA, considered for the criterion of decision. NPV is positive and the Return Period (PR) was in the first cycle of the second year of cultivation.
