Resumen
Background: Low back pain is the most reported complaint by the world population. Among the most frequent low back pain is lumbar sciatic pain. Neural mobilization techniques (NM) are already widely used to relieve these pains, however, it is believed that chronicity is capable of altering pain-related cortical areas, configuring a central sensitization. New non-invasive resources, such as Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (TDCs) have emerged in an attempt to modulate these brain areas. Objective: To analyze the effect of tDCS combined with NM techniques on pain, functional capacity and quality of life in individuals with chronic lumbar sciatic pain. Method: This is a clinical trial protocol to be carried out with individuals with lumbar sciatic pain caused by a herniated disc. Two groups will be established: TDCs Active and TDCs Sham, both will receive the MN techniques. The volunteers will be submitted to evaluations before and after the intervention and in a segment of seven, fourteen and thirty days. To measure the variables, the following tools will be used: EVA, DN4 and PD-Q for pain, RMDQ functional capacity, and SF-36 and GPE for quality of life. The data will be analyzed by the SPSS software, the kolmogorov-Smirnov tests and the levene test will be applied to verify the normality and homogeneity of the sample, the paired t test will compare the means and a repeated measures ANOVA for comparison over time. The level of statistical significance will be 5%, confidence interval of 95%.
