Abstract
Brazilian cities, over the centuries, were built in natural environments that
favored, at the beginning, for their protection, water supply and food. When
constituting cities, they suffered from changes in their spaces and landscape,
changing the environment, or rather, its geodiversity. Currently, the concept of
geodiversity is being disseminated together with that of Geomorphological
Heritage, Geoconservation, Geoeducation. Thinking of popularizing these
concepts and promoting the dissemination and protection of the abiotic
environment, we seek to explore these environments in a more sustainable way,
through Geoeducation. Therefore, the focus of this study was based on
Geomorphological Heritage in the city of Natal-RN. The general objective of this
research was to characterize the Geomorphosites of the city of Natal-RN through
the integration of the physical, socioeconomic and environmental environment to
promote Geoeducation. The methodology used in the research was given by the
initial works; for field work, computer lab work and office work. The results
identified were: 1) the Geomorphossites with the greatest scientific value were -
Parque das Dunas, with a value of 0.937, followed by Morro do Careca, Via
Costeira and Parque da Cidade; 2) the greatest geotouristic potential was in the
Parque da Cidade, Morro do Careca, Parque das Dunas, Via Costeira, Forte dos
Reis Magos and Ladeira do Sol Geomorphosites; 3) in relation to the potential for
educational use, it appears that they obtained classifications of “high” relevance
(Dunas da Redinha and Dunas do Rio Pitimbu) and “very high” the other
Geomorphosites; 4) lastly, the degree of susceptibility in the Geomorphosites
Ladeira do Sol and Forte dos Reis Magos, with 0.8 - very high. Finally, a geoeducational guide was produced, presenting options for field trips for teachers, students, the population and tourists. As support material was also prepared: booklet, folder, post card templates, memory games, homepage, social media
with the characteristics of Geomorphosites.
