Resumen
The utilization of the rainwater stored in cisterns is one of the alternative solutions for the water supply. A rainwater capitation system adequate should be carefully designed, adopting the appropriate calculation method and considering all the project parameters, as capitation area, water demands, and pluvial characteristics. The objective of this study was to analyze different methods of dimensioning cisterns applied in distinct homogeneous rain zones to evaluate a variation of the volumes for each zone and for each method, as a basis for analysis. By the analysis of the volumes variation, precipitations and the PCD values, was possible detect that the precipitation distribution (PCD) in these cases has more influence in the volume of cisterns than the average precipitation value, proving that it should not be standardized the same volume of cistern for different rainfall regions. Four of the evaluated methods were considered inadequate, but the other six were evaluated as satisfactory, where four of them were the most adequate.
