Resumen
Considered one of the main tourist destinations in the state, Pirangi do Norte is today one of the most frequented beaches on the south coast of Potiguar. Located in the municipality of Parnamirim, it underwent changes in its form of occupation from the 1970s onwards when the land owned by local fishermen was gradually sold for the construction of the first summer homes. Second home tourism has become one of the main agents of the local urban dynamics, making the nature of many of the projects implemented in the neighborhood seasonal, consequently, not meeting the demands of the residents, since the neighborhood does not have public facilities. of quality suited to local needs. Taking this into account, and assuming that architecture has the power to stimulate social transformation, appropriation and pride in communities, it is intended to carry out the project of a community center to encourage culture, sport and leisure in the neighborhood of Pirangi do Norte. . In the specific case of a project of social architecture, the pattern that is observed as being produced in the region is of standardized buildings, without taking into account the place of implantation, failing to pay attention to the best use of the resources and natural conditions that the environment provides. Therefore, it is proposed as a general objective “to prepare an architectural draft of a community center in the neighborhood of Pirangi do Norte, focusing on the principles of bioclimatic architecture”. Therefore, it is necessary (1) to identify the main elements that guide the planning and design of a community center, (2) to reflect on the design guidelines for a bioclimatic architecture, considering the particularities of the study site and, finally, (3) apply in design the most appropriate passive strategies of thermal comfort for a building in the district of Pirangi do Norte. The result, therefore, is a community center project that serves as an example of architecture adapted to the climate of the region, consistent with the needs of residents and capable of helping to promote the social development of the neighborhood.
