Liquid-liquid extraction is an important industrial operation aimed at separating or purifying a system. It is an operation that can be used for the treatment of aqueous effluents originated during the extraction of oil. In this work, the objective was to assemble and study the liquidliquid extraction operation in a column of reciprocal perforated plates to obtain operational data from the equipment. The system applied was Toluene – Water – Acetone as a way to validate the extraction column on a pilot scale based on existing data in the literature. Allied to this, a study of mass transfer in droplets was carried out in the same system, by analyzing data obtained from the Krüss® Drop Shape DSA100 tensiometer – interfacial tension and drop diameter. In the studies of axial dispersion in the column, the experimental Peclet number found was approximately 8.15 and the dispersion coefficient (E) was equal to 82.21 cm²/s. For the Toluene – Water – Acetone system, which was operated in emulsion in the extractor, an extraction efficiency of 87.27% was found. The global coefficients of mass transfer presented in the study of drop analysis, regardless of the direction of mass transport, values equal to 0.00012 (m/s) - consistent with the data found in the literature.
