Resumen
With constant worry for the environment and the development of new materials, polymeric composite materials reinforced with natural fibers are increasingly evident. In this sense, this dissertation aims at the manufacture and characterization of a polymeric composite with the particulate coconut shell (Cocos Nucífera Linn), in the granulation size range of 0.212 to 0.5 mm as the reinforcement, and a polymer resin of the polyamide 6. For the manufacture of the composite, the materials were dried in circulating air oven at 60 ° C and vacuum oven at 80 ° C. Subsequently, the extrusion technique was used in a co-rotational double-screw extruder and, subsequently, the injection process with an injection temperature at 230 ° C, temperature above the glass transition temperature of the lignocellulosic residue, with the intention of that the natural resin, lignin, can assist in the adhesion of the particulate to the matrix, reducing interface problems. For the characterization of the composite material (10 wt.% And 20 wt.%), density, water absorption, tensile and flexure tests were performed, and scanning electron microscopy was used for fracture analysis. From the analysis of the results, a reduction in the tensile strength of the composites was observed when compared with the pure polyamide 6, however, there was an increase in the flexural strength and modulus of elasticity. In the analysis of the fracture through the SEM, a greater presence of voids in the sample of 10 wt.% Was observed, when compared to the sample of 20 wt.%.
